Dhaka- the hobbling capital of Bangladesh which always shook the geo-political dynamics has been the home to ultra-riches and luxury par to the universal standards. The city demeanor chaotic streets and record breaking traffic jams. Yet, the hostile city boasts beautiful parks, high-rise skyscrapers, high end districts and luxurious stays at the heart.
However the country has went unprecedented political turnover recently. Not long ago before the uprising, I had my chance to visit this bustling metropolis in South Asia. It was my business trip to Dhaka, and as a seeker of luxury, undoubtedly I confirmed my stay at InterContinental Dhaka.
Getting to Intercontinetal Dhaka and it’s location
I found the hotel location in between of greenery. While most hotels prefer the commercial zone, this property majestically sits at Minto Road. Reaching this grandeur is about 30 minutes drive from the international airport Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Adjacent to the property lies a well managed urban park that goes by the name “Ramana Park“. Getting around the location offers the vistas of high rise apartments and hotels, giving a soothing skyline view from the green park of the developed part of the city.
Deluxeness at IHG Dhaka
I rather not talk more about this British hotel chain. It is inadvertently one of the promising luxury properties to stay in wherever. Yet far away from the British office, the hotel in this important colonial city during the British Raj embraces the Islamic architect blended with European luxury style. The outlook of the building is grandeur to it’s national ambition too.
This 5 star property totally calls in for the national design. I even got to know that the hotel has a share of the government as well.
Dining and Entertainment in IHG Dhaka
Alcohol available only with a valid passport and no gambling. The dinner buffet and breakfast buffet is extremely large spread with live counters. I specially loved the sea food counters. I had endless lobsters and you might wanna know how endless for such exclusively expensive dish. Bangladesh’s Chittagong region is one of the world’s largest producer of Lobsters making it cheap among the region, that’s why. Similarly, the beef items were of top-notch too, they have blended the meat with Bengali/Bangladeshi Rogan sauce. The Bangladeshi version of Rogan that I had in this hotel was better anywhere in India, no offense to India, Bangladeshi version was more authentic.
Swimming pools have a restriction in time. Being a tropical nation which has an above average warm temperature throughout the year, the hotel restricts the swimming pool timing from morning 7.00 AM to evening 8.00 PM. However, the property boasts having the largest indoor swimming pool in Bangladesh. The swimming pool has thermals so it’s quite nice to have swim onto a nice warm waters And, do not expect spa service cause it’s Bangladesh.
Finally, I pray the political red herring in Bangladesh shall not deter the conspicuousness of the display of flamboyance in the heart of Dhaka. Wishes for prosperity to Bangladesh and wish to stay again at IHG Dhaka.
